They understand that is its employees that make the company. My first meeting the division president stated "being part of Pulte Homes means you -put your faith first, your family second, and Pulte Homes third." He said, if I were to put my faith and family as priority in my life, then I would be the type of person that Pulte Homes would appreciate being in third place for.
After having said that, a month and a half after I came to Pulte Homes, I received a devastating call. My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer in multiple organs. They gave her less than a month to live. We made the decision to put her on life support until all her children and grandchildren had the chance to say good-bye. After that we were going to let her go. We didn't want her to live as a vegetable. Everyone came and said goodbye. I went and said my goodbyes. Wednesday came and she was to be unplugged. I came in and my manager looked at me and told me to go be with my family. He said to me, "Don't be here and come to regret not being there. Work will be here when you get back. Go, be with your family. Don't regret not being there.”

Everybody works extremely hard and given 110% yet we know family and faith come first. This message was given to all employees on a personal visit from our National President, Richard Dugas, who makes it a point to get home for dinner every night and enjoys family time with his wife and children.
Our management provides clear concise goals, and then motivates us to accomplish them. It is wonderful working for a company that has such an aggressive vision to be “the” industry leader. In order to achieve this goal, employees are given the empowerment to “do the right thing” for the customer, as “customer delight” is our company motto.
Our corporate infrastructure is very stable; we have organized systems, exceptional people, a quality product, and lots of land in the pipeline. With this kind of mix, our success is a reality.
