Name: Brooke Pechak Title: Sales Counselor Location: Detroit, MI Number of Years at Pulte Homes: 1 year Having just celebrated my one-year anniversary with Pulte Homes, I have recently had the chance to reflect on why it is such a wonderful place to work. I have narrowed the reasons down to one overall feeling that Pulte Homes exudes, respect. Employees from the very top to entry level are all treated with the utmost respect by the company, and in turn, by one another. I feel that I am trusted to do my job to the best of my abilities because Pulte respects me. Even though this is my first “real job” out of college, Pulte Homes creates an environment that makes me feel that the job that I do is just as important and respected as any other in the company. On top of this respect, there are many reasons why being a part of Pulte Homes is amazing, including; an overall feeling of being part of a team and not just a number, constantly being rewarded and recognized for doing my job to the best of my ability as well as having any resource at my fingertips I need to do my job.
When I talk to my friends that sit in cubicles all day just waiting for 5:00 p.m., I realize I love my job and company I work for. They say that they feel insignificant and completely expendable. I feel like a member of a team working towards a common goal. I am proud to say that I work for Pulte Homes and that I am treated with respect everyday.
Name: Matt Broadwell Title: Customer Relations Manager Location: Detroit, MI Number of Years at Pulte Homes: 5 years Finding a career in a company can be an extremely stressful and draining experience. Finding a company that has strong core values and is a fun and rewarding place to work is even harder. I am one of the lucky few that has found such a company.
I hired in at Pulte Homes in the summer of 1999. The decision to accept the job was easy considering everyone I spoke with who worked for Pulte was very friendly and seemed unusually happy. I started thinking to myself, “Are these employees at work or just a lot of friends working at a common goal”? I found the latter of the two to be true.
The relationships that have developed with the people I work with are as strong as my family relationships. It is one of trust and respect. Each Pulte employee has the same overall goal in mind, and that is to do what’s right and always make the customer happy. Doing what’s best for the customer is the unwritten mutual agreement that we all share. It is the basic foundation of Pulte Homes. It is exemplified from our CEO to our new hires and everyone in between. It is the glue that holds us together in friendship with each other and with our customers. It is the number one reason why I am so proud to work for Pulte Homes.
Name: Derek Huggett Title: Sales Associate Location: Detroit, MI Number of Years at Pulte Homes: 2.5 years There are numerous reasons why Pulte Homes is a fabulous place to work. First, is the opportunity that this growing company has to offer. Where there’s growth, there’s room for advancement and Pulte Homes clearly demonstrates a philosophy of promoting from within.
Second, I have never met a single Pulte employee that felt his/her contributions were not meaningful. This can be attributed in large part to the company’s culture. Companies live and die by the culture they embed in their employees. Bill Pulte and the management team set the tone years ago when Customer Satisfaction and Product Quality became the cornerstones of the company. The entire organization maintains a positive attitude and is filled with energy, making it an enjoyable place to develop a career.
Third, Pulte is also a company that truly respects the opinion of its employees. Whereas, many large corporations are filled with bureaucracy and practice top-down management, Pulte embraces the opinions of every individual. This type of empowerment for all creates an atmosphere where everyone takes pride in their job and accepts accountability for their results. I feel truly blessed to have found this company at an early stage in my career.
Last, Pulte Homes is committed to continuous employee training. Through focus groups, tactical training, and 7 Habits sessions, we all have the ability to become experts at what we do and work as a cohesive unit.
